Settle in. Let your breath find its own rhythm — you do not need to lengthen it yet.
We are not looking for big gratitude today. Not the achievements, not the milestones. We are looking for the small mercies: the ones that pass by unthanked.
Bring to mind something your body did for you today without being asked. It carried you from one room to another. It kept your heart beating while you slept. Thank it, silently, in whatever words are yours.
Now bring to mind something small and warm. A cup in your hands. A door held open. A message you did not expect. Let the memory be specific — the colour of it, the sound of it.
Rest there for three breaths. Gratitude is not a thought; it is a warmth. Let it be felt rather than reasoned.
Now think of someone who made your day one degree softer. You may never tell them. Tell them here.
And finally, one mercy for yourself. Something you did gently, or something you did not do — an unkind word you swallowed, a rest you allowed.
Take a full breath. Let it out slowly. Carry these small things with you, lightly, like coins in a pocket.
