A practice with Karen
Settling the body so the mind can follow it down.
Read the script slowly, in your own time — or record it in your voice and it will play here.

01Let your body be exactly as heavy as it is. There is no effort left to make tonight.
02Take three breaths that are slow enough to hear.
03Now picture a room. Any room where you have felt safe. Notice the floor of it, the light in it, the door.
04Walk into that room slowly. Put down whatever you are carrying, just inside the door. It will still be there in the morning.
05Sit down in that room. Feel how quiet it is when nothing is being asked of you.
06Let your breathing slow to match the room. The room is not in a hurry. Neither are you.
07If a thought comes in, let it sit by the door. It can wait until morning like everything else.
08Now let the light in the room dim, one shade at a time, as slowly as you like.
09Rest here. You do not need to hear the end of this.
